Thapelo Boston Mongopeng, known to his fans by his stage name Boston is a multi-talented South African upcoming artist and entrepreneur. At just the age of twenty five (25) Boston is a deep house vocalist, record producer and the founder and CEO of Boston Empire. Growing up he always had love and passion for music. At the age of fifteen (15) his father introduced and played LP’s to him. The young and talented young man was born in Soshanguve, Pretoria.
When he was only sixteen (16) and at high school he began making electronic beats for his peers, and that turned him into a popular beat maker at Orange Room Media. Boston used to play piano and drums at church which was also one of the things that made him realise his talent. He explains what challenges he encountered during his music journey “for me music is simple and basic, but introducing my sound in Soshanguve was something to work on and also my name (Boston) made everything hard because there is a rock band in the USA called Boston so every time I release my music I get mixed reactions”, commented Boston.
His interest in music led him to further his music talent at UNISA school of music, and then started his own group under the name of Musiq Dash Group. This creative young man pursued and developed his creativity in media arts and in 2018 he founded and started a multimedia company under the name Boston Empire with his partner and mentor Samson Wempie Siphuma. Since he is also a fashion lover, Boston Empire also has its own Fashion line of which he is the brand ambassador of and its fashion catalogue will be available sometime this year.
Boston works with other producers and vocalists the likes of M.E.T, MJ De Vocalist and producer Ndona Masilo. He has released two EPs Inspiration (2018) and Inspiration II (2019). In 2018 he was nominated and received an award for the best producer at the Soshanguve Music Awards and 2019 he produced a short Zulu Drama titled MHLABA NGENZENI which is written by Calvin Mnisi and Directed by Motchello.
