A SISTER MOTIVATING OTHER WOMEN.

Mmabatho Makotanyane is a young woman from Soshanguve who is passionate about women empowerment, community and youth development. She is a proud founder of MM communications which is a company that hosts and organises women empowerment sessions, photography and MC’ing. She says her journey started by her writing motivational messages on her social media platforms. People showed interest in what she wrote that they started inboxing her inquiring if she had considered writing a book and expressing how inspired they were by her posts. This encouraged her to start women empowerment sessions.
Mmabatho says that she started hosting her sessions in 2013. She started by building relationships with South African authors, professional speakers, psychologists and life coaches whom she would invite to be speakers at her events. She wanted women from all walks of life to gather quarterly and be inspired to live their best lives and to be the best version of themselves.

She says that she got inspired by the stories she used to write while she was still a journalist and by attending other women empowerment sessions. She is inspired by women who do extraordinary things for themselves, the kind that get and make things happen. According to Mmabatho women like Dj Zinhle, Puseletso Modimogale, Bonang Matheba and Khanyi Dhlomo are the epitome of her inspiration.
Her women empowerment sessions normally consist of an intimate group of women where thoughts and questions can be shared amongst the attendees. In as much as hosting these sessions brings her joy, it does come with its own set of challenges. Her challenges include not getting sponsors to keep the events alive. Mmabatho does not make any profit from her sessions even though they are paid sessions. She uses the money to pay for the venue and food and she would often have to cough up money from her own pocket to cover added costs, none the less she finds a way to make it happen.

MM Communications’ next event is on the 28th of March 2020 at Kream Mall of Africa, themed “The power of forgiveness”. Mmabatho says, “From the past sessions we have realised that women have a lot to make peace with.” That is how the theme came about.

Awesome blog.Really thank you!
The very crux of your writing while sounding agreeable in the beginning, did not sit very well with me after some time. Somewhere within the sentences you managed to make me a believer unfortunately just for a while. I nevertheless have got a problem with your jumps in assumptions and you would do well to help fill in all those gaps. In the event you actually can accomplish that, I could certainly end up being impressed.
