ACTION SPEAKS MUCH LOUDER THAN WORDS.

The circus came to town and it was up to us, to pick our favorite act. It will take another two years before we have prominent figures in their luxurious cars visit our neighborhoods. On the 8th of May, millions of us braced the cold weather to elect the new president of South Africa. After a long wait, the Independent Electoral Commission announced the final verdict on Saturday and the people have spoken. President Cyril Ramaphosa will lead the country into it’s new dawn. After much prediction that the ruling party will win the elections by 60%, the party only came in, at 57.5.

While the opposition party, led by Mmuisi Maimane, came in second with 20.77. The rumour mill was too quick to hit the blue party, it is said Mmuisi’s future in the party is hanging on by athread, before we jump into conclusions, maybe the ambitious Maimane is looking to further his studies at Harvard University, or open his own political party or even open his own political parties, after all just because people are talking it doesn’t make it true.

The leader in Red has proved to be a force to be reckoned with. The Economic Freedom Fighters has shown rapid growth since its conception in 2014, and it has made a name for itself in Orania, the all Afrikaner state in South Africa.

Only 14 out of 48 parties that were on the ballot paper made it to Parliament. While it seems South Africans are more trusting in Cyril Ramaphosa, who is known for his business acumen, the face of Parliament is slowly changing and has a youthful look. The Independent Electoral Commission’s integrity came into question, when allegations of people attempting to cast multiple votes in different voting stations surfaced.

Adv Dali Mpofu, admitted to have conducted his own “test” by sending people to attempt to vote in multiple voting stations and they have succeeded, seemingly Mpofu who has admitted to violating the IEC code of conduct has gone unnoticed, maybe, Solly Msimanga didn’t miss it, and might be sending Mpofu a gift “orange suit and handcuffs”. Could we have an inquiry on who was awarded the tender for the markers officially used at voting stations. In the past election, the ink would take days, to everyone’s much annoyance to fade, but this time the ink could be easily wiped off.

While the ruling party celebrated victory, yesterday outside Luthuli house in Johannesburg, Mr Ramaphosa has 5 years to prove if the liberal party is still worth the people’s votes.

Caster Semenya and the IAFF are still at loggerheads with their controversial rule, that has takeneffect on Wednesday, 8th of May. The organization says, the gold Olympian, can compete in athletics by competing with men. The IAAF is simply implying that Caster and women who have higher testosterone levels in their body are men. Caster’s decade in Athletics has been one tainted with humiliation and stripping her off her human rights. Her name will be synonymous with humiliation by the organization.

The bells are jingling in Mamelodi Sundowns camp, the Brazilians have proved to be championswhen they lifted the ABSA PSL cup for the 9th time. O other news Percy Tau is a sparkle of #BlackMagic, the 24-year-old scooped player of the season award in his Europe based side. halala, Tau, halala. Teko Modise has brought beautiful football moments in my home, he may not know it, but his name has always filled my home with great joy, as my cousin Kitso, chanted his name “oooh Teko Modise, come on Teko”. The general announced his retirement at 36, after he has found home at the Capetown City.

On Monday the 6th, Hollywood put the fashion foot forward in a bid to impress, Vogue US editor Anna Wintour. The important night in fashion, takes place every year on the First Monday of May, and as always, gloves were off. From lighting dresses, to who wore it better moments. Lady Gaga was Anna’s favorite of the night. Kim Kardashian West and her sister Kyle Jenner set tounges wagging. Kim Kardashian who embraces fashion no matter the cost, shocked the internet with her tiny waist, while some were too quick to say, the reality star has undergone rib removal surgery, the star shared a video of herself getting ready for the MET, she had worn a corset to give her that tiny waist. While her sister, Kylie Jenner, had us wondering if she is expecting baby number 2 with Travis Scott. Kim Kardashian West and husband Kanye welcomed a baby boy, in a tweet that has sent Twitter into frenzy, Kim tweeted ” he is here, he is perfect “.

Congratulations to Dineo Moeketsi and her Partner Solo, who secretly tied the knot over the weekend.
