MABOPANE STATION TRAIN RESUMED.
Gauteng Metrorail announced that with effect from the 03rd November 2020 the Mabopane Limited Train Service will be resuming operations using diesel locomotives. For safety reasons and severe impact of theft and vandalism, trains will not be able to stop at all stations this includes Soshanguve, Kopanong, Wintersnest and Akasiaboom Stations.

Metrorail requests commuters and the local community to “be patient and understanding during this time” as they work hard around the clock to repair the stations to acceptable conditions for trains to stop.
Operational plans are at an advance stage for Saulsville limited train service which will resume operations with effect from the 16th November 2020.

Commuters are reminded that the country is still under lockdown level 1 therefore commuters are expected to wear a mask at all times and maintaining social distance. Metrorail have social distancing markings at the stations and in the trains.
Gauteng Metrorail Spokesperson, Ms Lillian Mofokeng said “due to Covid 19 requirements, the train will only load 70 Percent of the total train capacity to allow for social distancing. The “First come first serve” rule will apply. In addition, train services will only operate during morning peak 05:00-09:00 and for the afternoon peak between 15:00-19:00”.
