JUNIOR TAURUS RELEASES LATEST SINGLE ‘SETTLE DOWN’ FEATURING KAYLOW.

DJ, Producer and Record Label co-owner Junior Taurus has dropped his summer much anticipated single titled, Settle Down featuring Kaylow. This follows hot on the heels of producing two hit songs that dominated the music scene in 2018; namely Monate Mpolaye and Ayepyep. “I usually drop a couple of songs for the streets every year, while I work on other projects to test the sound I’m going for with my next release. Settle Down comes after the positive raves of Ghetto Anthem, one of the biggest songs that the streets embraced before it was recognised on mainstream platforms. Settle Down is a special single because I haven’t dropped any solo single in a long time,” he adds.

He’s currently in studio with Thebe, DJ Sumbody, Vettis and Major League, as his major focus is working on rebranding and aligning his brand with established names in the music industry. Being in the forefront of the amapiano sound from Pretoria and surrounding areas, Junior Taurus, whose real name is Tshepo Mosidi, adds that he’s a versatile producer and can work on any sound.

“Amapiano is still at its infant stage, before amapiano there was the broken beats sound. Before that, Pretoria artists and producers released barcadi music also known as Sgubu Sa Pitori sound. Music evolves and it’s good to move with the times and incorporate new elements to showcase versatility,” he says. He says he never anticipated how successful both Monate Mpolaye and Ayepyep would be, hence it took him a while to decide on which solo single to release and went with Settle Down.

 “Honestly, the love has been amazing and encouraging. I never imagined that both the songs would do so well,” he explains. I have big plans for Settle Down, as he embarks on a massive summer tour. He says he chooses his collaborations based on energy, especially artists who share the same energy as him and have equal passion for music. Having co-owned Cap City Records for since its inception, he says some of the lessons throughout the journey is to never to rely on talent alone.

“This industry is based around capital and lack of capacity to push a song and a brand will result in an unproductive stable.” He says that Pretoria artists have a certain distinct rhythm that has kept his music alive for a long. He says the city’s music scene is his inspiration. On who his dream collaboration is, he laughingly says: “I would give up a kidney to work with Monique Bingham.”
