ACCESS TO MARKET FOR LOCAL BUSINESS.

Short Market Street is a social art, craft and music street market in Garankuwa North of Pretoria.  An idea conceived in 2016 and saw flight in October 2017 with the first event hosted at LSU Pub and Grill. It is a platform for local business owners, entrepreneurs, artist and brands to showcase, promote and sell their products and services.

“We aim to help grow local brands and businesses to a point where they get clients on a regular beyond the market” says Karabo (Moriri) Tlholoe founder and resident of Zone 16 Garankuwa. Hosted every first week of the month, the market’s are now hosted at Louis Place Zone 4 Garankuwa, a much more vibrant, specious location and houses over 20 stalls with lots of parking.

Why you will love it. This happens to be one of the coolest township hangouts in Pretoria on a Sunday, striking a balance between superb food and drinks, cool clothes and accessories and good music supplied by resident DJ, DJ Sirkaymor (Kamogelo Tshabangu) whose been with the market since inception.

“The initiative has really supported my love for music and career as a DJ where I started playing for free to now being a paid DJ and have contributed to me playing in big stages such as the North West Jazz Festival,” says Kamogelo who is now a Director of a production company (Prime Soul Creatives) that offers sound hire,  DJ services,  artist management,  music production and a music school.

Amongst others Tsa Pitori spoke to Momabua Food Truck that has become known for great service, reasonable prices and juiciest burgers you could hope to sink your teeth into. It’s secrete is in the burger patties made in house from lean ground beef and a blend of spices, a recipe that Mpho Monyai, owner of the truck has masters over the years. The patties are also available for sale to the public at R72.00 a pack.

We also spoke to Boiketlo Ba Africa a brand of women’s health and wellness products by Kamogelo Mathibe from Hammanskraal. “We aim to promote healing through the use of natural herbs and plants grown organically in Afrika and other parts of the world” says Kamogelo who established the brand in 2020.
